• Born: 31 May 1725 in Chondi, Maharashtra, into a humble family.
• Married into the Holkar dynasty by Malhar Rao Holkar, her father-in-law.
• Refused to commit sati after her husband’s death; instead, trained in governance and warfare.
• Became ruler of Malwa in 1767 with the approval of the Peshwa.
• Ruled for 28 years, transforming Maheshwar into a flourishing capital of trade, culture, and spirituality.

🕌 Contributions

• Promoted the Maheshwari textile industry, arts, and temple construction.
• Rebuilt the Kashi Vishwanath Temple (1780) and numerous others across India.
• Established rest houses, tanks, roads, and dharmashalas in holy cities like Dwarka, Gaya, Rameswaram, and Omkareshwar.
