When a nation listens to its people not just in words but in numbers, it calibrates growth with conscience.
Key Highlights:
- New RBI Surveys Launched: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has initiated three nationwide surveys to better align its monetary policy framework with public expectations:
- Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH) – conducted in 19 cities, gauges how people perceive future price trends.
- Urban Consumer Confidence Survey (UCCS) – also covers 19 cities, focusing on urban sentiments regarding income, employment, spending, and prices.
- Rural Consumer Confidence Survey (RCCS) – spans 31 states and UTs, capturing rural voices on economic and employment outlooks.
- Why These Surveys Matter:
These insights help the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to:- Understand inflation psychology
- Adjust repo rates and liquidity measures
- Tune policy interventions to public confidence and distress signals
- Data-Driven Decision-Making:
RBI uses these surveys before every bi-monthly MPC meeting—the next one scheduled for June 4–6, 2025. Findings will directly influence key interest rate decisions.
