DGFT Launches Enhanced eCoO 2.0 System to Boost Export Efficiency
📦 The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has rolled out eCoO 2.0 — a next-gen upgrade of the Certificate of Origin system. Designed to streamline India’s export certification process, this system ushers in greater efficiency, security, and ease for exporters through digitization and smart tools.
✨ Key Features of eCoO 2.0
- Multi-User Access: Multiple users can now operate under a single Importer Exporter Code (IEC) — ideal for teams handling complex export operations.
- Aadhaar-Based E-Signing: Offers flexibility with e-signatures via Aadhaar, in addition to traditional digital tokens.
- In-Lieu Certificate of Origin: Exporters can now apply for corrections to previously issued certificates via an online request process.
- Integrated Dashboard: Centralized view for all eCoO services, including:
- FTA information
- Trade event updates
- Document status tracking
🧾 Mandatory Electronic Filing
Starting 1st January 2025, all Non-Preferential Certificates of Origin must be filed electronically via the eCoO 2.0 portal on the DGFT Website.
🔄 Back-to-Back Certificate of Origin
For non-Indian origin goods that are re-exported or sent through India, exporters can apply for a back-to-back CoO.
It ensures compliance based on foreign-origin documents — enhancing transparency in global value chains.
