🏠 Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin: Marching Toward “Housing for All”

Launched on April 1, 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) is the government’s flagship scheme to provide pucca houses with essential amenities to the rural poor. With a long-term target of 4.95 crore houses by March 2029, this programme is a key pillar of rural development in India.

  • 🏗️ Houses Sanctioned: 3.23 crore
  • Houses Completed: 2.69 crore
  • 💰 Total Financial Assistance (since 2016): ₹2.37 lakh crore
  • 🧾 New Phase (2024–29): 2 crore additional houses approved
  • 💸 Financial Outlay for New Phase: ₹3,06,137 crore

  • 🎯 Target: 41,68,046 houses
  • Sanctioned: 41,51,931
  • 🏠 Completed: 36,80,620 (~88%)
  • 📋 Households on Waiting List: 16.42 lakh
  • 🗓️ New Allocations (Jan 15, 2025): 8.21 lakh houses

💸 Financial Allocations for FY 2024–25 (Madhya Pradesh)

  • Total Allocated: ₹3,726 crore
    • Of which ₹2,165 crore released on 7 Jan 2025
  • Additional ₹4,934 crore possible based on fund utilisation
  • Estimated Cost (11.89 lakh new houses): ₹18,036 crore

  • 🆕 Awaas+ 2024 App: Launched on 17 Sept 2024
    • AI-powered facial recognition for accurate targeting
    • 2.5 lakh surveyors trained nationwide

🤝 Integrated Development Approach

PMAY-G is linked with several schemes for holistic support:

  • 💡 Electrification: 35 lakh homes lit
  • 💧 Jal Jeevan Mission: Water access in rural homes
  • 💼 MGNREGA & SHGs: Livelihood and empowerment
  • ☀️ PM-Surya Ghar: Rooftop solar integration

👩‍🌾 Empowering Rural Women

  • 74% of homes are registered in women’s names
  • Each home includes ₹12,000 for building a toilet
  • For hilly states, the Centre-State funding ratio is 90:10

  • 💸 Estimated Cost: ₹12,636 crore
