On April 5, 2025, the Indian Navy launched INS Sunayna, an Offshore Patrol Vessel from Karwar, Karnataka, under the visionary IOS SAGAR initiative—marking a decade of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
Presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the event reflects India’s growing role as a maritime leader in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR)—anchored in cooperation, peace, and preparedness.

  • IOS = Indian Ocean Ship Mission, promoting maritime cooperation
  • Involves naval personnel from 9 friendly nations, including Comoros, Kenya, Maldives
